The Ophthalmology Research Center began its activities in 2000 (1379 in the Iranian calendar), at the request of the Department of Ophthalmology and in cooperation with the Research Deputy of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences and the Endowment Affairs Office of District 5 of Shiraz. Overall Objective of the Poostchi Ophthalmology Research Center To conduct targeted studies and research based on the needs and priorities of the field of ophthalmology in the country and to present the results as reliable documentation in order to facilitate and contribute to the improvement of eye health at the macro level to develop and pursue activities in the fields of research, education, and teamwork to contribute to policymaking and planning in the areas of eye health, eye diseases, and ophthalmology to generate new information derived from applied research and studies and disseminate it for use in treatment and healthcare to enhance the countrys scientific standing through knowledge production and the publication of scientific articles in reputable international journals to actively participate in efforts to reduce the incidence of blindness and to increase the Centers cooperation with other research centers, as well as with other organizations involved in the healthcare system, through the development of joint projects.
